Week 4 2016: Michael Jordan and Amelia Earhart Quote

Michael Jordan Quote: "I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Inspirational Thoughts of the Week: Week 4 January 25 to 31 2016

Two inspirational thoughts for this week, one each from Michael Jordan and Amelia Earhart.

Michael Jordan Quote: “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

I do not think anything else needs to be said, the quote says it all!

The second quote for this week comes from..

Amelia Earhart Quote: “The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.”

The second inspirational thought is from Amelia Earhart:

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.”

I definitely can agree with Amelia Earhart here.  Often I become aware of myself procrastinating.  Procrastination for me is usually due to resistance from making a decision or taking an action.  In my earlier years I used to procrastinate a lot, in the last few years I have been able to take an action sooner and more often, this has led to less procrastination!

Week 3 2016: Florence Nightingale and Wayne Gretzky Quote

Wayne Gretzky Quote: "You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take."

Inspirational Thoughts of the Week: Week 3 January 18 to 24 2016

Two inspirational thoughts for this week, one each from Florence Nightingale and Wayne Gretzky.

Florence Nightingale Quote: “I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse.”

Florence Nightingale Quote: "I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse."

The above quote is from Florence Nightingale:

“I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse.”

Very good advice from Florence Nightingale.  Too often in the past have I fallen into the trap of trying to defer responsibility or shift the blame for a situation onto someone else.  By shifting the blame and responsibility for a negative situation on to someone else, I have also shifted any power I had to deal with the situation.  If you shift the blame and responsibility to another party, that person has all the power!

The second inspirational thought is from Wayne Gretzky:

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

Wayne Gretzky has nailed it in one sentence.  To make things happen you must take action.  If you take a shot you at least have a 1% to 100% chance of success, if you do not have a shot you have a 0% chance of success!
